A Micracle and a Mystery

First--the miracle: COLA SYRUP. Finally, I have found some relief for my pregnancy nausea with no side effects and I want to shout it out to the whole world!!! It tastes pretty good, helps almost immediately, is cheap and works! YIPEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Second--the mystery: What is the difference between mayonnaise and Miracle Whip? My friends and I were just discussing this the other day and so I thought I would share this little tidbit I came across: "Early in the Great Depression, prepared mayonnaise went from a household staple to a luxury item few could afford. Kraft began researching ways to make an inexpensive substitute and eventually came up with something made of oil, egg yolks, cooked starch paste and seasonings. It had less oil than regular mayonnaise, so it was cheaper to produce...but was also harder to make. Kraft invented a new mixer they called the 'miracle whip' to give the product its creamy consistency. Then they named the product after the machine" (Uncle John's Ultimate Bathroom Reader, pg 125). Its great what you can learn while...well, never mind.

Yay! I am so glad the cola syrup works!!! That is interesting about the mayo. I was at the store the other day and I noticed that miracle whip and mayo were the same price and I was like..... I thought miracle whip was the cheap version... Thanks for the tips!

Julee, I didn't know you were pregnant again. Congratulations! How do I keep in touch with you better? Good luck with everything. I'm glad you found something that works for your nausea. I have actually never had morning sickness, but if I ever do someday I will keep this remedy in mind.

Grandma Jemmett used to go to the drug store and buy coke syrup drawn from the fountain they used to make soda drinks way-back-when. When my brother, sister, or I were sick she would give us a spoonful of it and it worked to stop the nausea and vomiting. To this day I cannot drink a cola drink of any kind because of the strong association between the cola flavor and being sick to my stomach and throwing up! I am glad it is helping you.
